118Bet is an odd casino – and one that won’t be around in Europe for much longer. It is run by Annatar Ltd. Operating out of the Isle of Man, it offers sports betting, bingo, video poker, Live Casino, racing and Microgaming video slot machines. It is run in both English and Chinese.
For the past 10 years, 118Bet has been the first online Asian casino to make an effort at the European market. In fact, they are one of the most well known global online gambling brands. They have one of the largest ranges of betting markets at any online casino. They also have very high betting limits – one of the reasons many people come to 188Bet. They have in the past partnered with Aston Villa, Chelsea and other European football and rugby teams.
They have developed apps that run on iOS and Android devices. While their selection of slots and table games is much lower than their browser based version they have all of their sports betting available on the apps. And that’s where the action is for 188 Bet – high stakes sports wagering.
You can interact with either the Asian or European interface. The Asian interface is actually easier to use than the Western one and demonstrates why so many people prefer Asian style betting. If that’s not your thing 188Bet allows you to easily switch back to the European look. There are fans of both interfaces, it really comes down to what you prefer.
188 Bet is licensed by the Isle of Man. That said their real focus is the Asian market. That’s why they’ve designed their site to be fully functional in Chinese. Of course they’ve made an effort to break into Europe and have done fairly well at it. They would probably like to try operating in the United States as well but current legislation prohibits that. That said court cases may soon change and being allowed to run in America could be a part of the site’s near future.
That said as of this year 188Bet announced that they will no longer be operating in the UK and Ireland. There have also been reports that they are not paying their affiliates. While the company claims to be solvent there are cracks in that reporting. We suspect that some big losses are forcing the company to cut down on what they offer. If you decide to wager with 188Bet we advise that you get your money out as soon as you win it. If the company were to go under they would have to pay off their other obligations before they paid bettors.
That said while 188 Bet is still operating they have world calls customer service. They have a Live Chat system in place that operates in more than a dozen languages. You can also get in touch with them by phone or email. There have been zero complaints about their customer service – something we wish all online casinos could claim.
It’s really a shame that 188Bet is going out of business in the UK and Ireland. While we suspect they will pull out or Europe next, they currently exist as a fine online casino. We’ll be said to see them go.
Like we said, we are sad to see 188 Bet go. They were a good casino that operated fairly. We feel there just wasn’t enough interest in an Asian themed casino for the UK/EU market. Brexit may have played a role in that as well. As such, we really can’t have an opinion on their bonus offers. They were good while they lasted but they are here no more.
Promotions come and go at 188Bet. While they are winding down their operations, they are pulling back on their promotions. Honestly, by the time you are reading this, all their activity in the UK and Ireland will probably be gone, so looking at the promotions is probably a waste of your time.
Any bonus offers you find on the site if it is still operational will have a ton of terms and conditions attached to them. Read them all carefully before you enter into one of their promotions. We are not saying 188 Bet would do this, but other casinos with solvency issues have made too good to be true offers just to get a last bit of cash in. We can’t in good faith recommend that you try out any 188Bet offer. There’s just too much risk involved.
As 188Bet will probably not be operating in the UK and Ireland by the time you read this we feel it would be irresponsible for us to discuss any welcome offer they may have. Their operations in Europe are sure to fail soon as well. We only recommend using 188Bet if you are in Asia. There they will have their own welcome offers you can look up at the time you want to make your bet.
188Bet is known for all the slots they offer. They are generally provided by Microgaming. They are all available for instant play. You don’t have to download anything. You get a wide variety of games from The Dark Knight with its mini games to classic retro slots like you’d find in Vegas in the 1950s. Pretty much any type of game you are looking for you’ll be able to find at 188Bet. It really is a shame to see them go. But not all good things can hang around.
188Bet also has a total of 14 different table games. Whether you want to play blackjack, roulette, baccarat, Pai Gow or craps you’ll find it at 188Bet. They use great graphics and have both low and high limits. It really is a shame to see this casino go. But some casinos just don’t seem to have luck on their side. We guess 188Bet is one of those casinos.
Video poker is one spot where 188Bet really missed out. Who knows? If they’d stuck more video poker games on their site maybe they’d still be around. Double Bonus Poker is the only video poker game they offer. With other casinos offering exciting variations like Deuces Wild and Joker Poker we are unsure why 188Bet missed out on this seemingly lucrative opportunity.
They do offer a wide selection of scratch off games, if that is your thing.
Their Live Casino on the other hand is excellent. They use Microgaming which while not the best is certainly up there in terms of quality. You’ll feel like you are right in the casino as you play. You can talk to other betters or the dealer. You can play blackjack, roulette and baccarat. You can also pick variations of all three games. Their Live Casino works just as well from their apps as it does from their browser.
This is another tricky one. As of our writing 188Bet has an excellent deposit and withdrawal policy. You can make your deposits with Visa, MasterCard, direct wire transfer, personal check, Skrill, Neteller and the usual e-wallets. In general, your money is credited instantly to your account.
For withdrawals there is a 24 hour hold on your first one as you have to send them a piece of identification plus a utility bill in order to verify who you are. That said once you have done that the process becomes far more simple and you can start the withdrawal process in well under 24 hours. The amount of time it will take for the money to get to you is determined by your bank.
That said this company seems to be having financial difficulties. If they were to go bankrupt everyone except betters would be paid first. And the company could use your deposits to pay other people. So whether or not their excellent withdrawal system will stay in place is anyone’s guess.
188Bet was a great betting site. We had no complaints about them. But something happened and they are pulling out of the UK and Ireland. We can only assume mainland Europe will be next. We cannot in good conscious recommend using a site that may simply stop existing while you are playing it.
We give 188Bet 0 out of 10 stars. Be very wary if you choose to bet with them.
